SRINAGAR, JANUARY 05 (KNO) : Vice Chairman J&K Wakf Board, Nizamuddin Bhat today said that Institution of Wakf owes it to the people to serve them through a mission based on unique culture and traditions of the State. The VC made these remarks during the valedictory function of week-long ‘Special Teacher-Training Programme’ for the teachers of Wakf run schools. The workshop was organized by J&K Wakf Board in collaboration with College of Education (IASE ) in which 56 teachers from different Wakf schools participated . Bhat said quality education cannot be and should not be a shallow slogan of our institution. “It has to be distinct and committed to a noble cause of grooming responsible and meaningful citizenry . There is an obvious harmony in the objectives of educational institutions that shape the curriculum as per rising standards and a given agenda mostly dictated by social change,” he added. He said that Wakf school need to gear up for the modern challenges in the field of knowledge and education. The VC further said that Wakf is an entity with a distinct identity and most of it is based on Sufi traditions. “Wakf Board will, therefore, consider an idea to make the Sufi practices as part of the overall curriculum so that Sufi skills are sustained and the heritage is duly preserved for prosperity,” he said. He also distributed certificates among the participant teachers on the occasion. (KNO)
